Held by kind permission of the Speaker and the Lord Speaker, the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast is an annual celebration of the diverse contribution that Christianity makes to the national life of the UK and overseas.
This year's Prayer Breakfast includes a full programme of seminars and breakout sessions. Unless otherwise specified, these will take place from 9am to 10:30am, after the main breakfast event:
- Westminster Abbey Service – eve of the Breakfast on 25 June at 5.00pm for evensong
- Faith-based Peace & Reconciliation – a panel discussion hosted by Elizabeth Hunter, Theos.
- The Olympic Truce and the opportunity for peace – Lord Bates of Langbaurgh
- Prayer in The Chapel of St Mary Undercroft – led by The Rev’d Rose Hudson-Wilkin
- The significance of the 2012 Games for the churches and our nations – led by More Than Gold
- A tour of the Palace of Westminster led by a Parliament guide
- Prayer walk to the Olympic Stadium led by Lord Michael Bates (a 7 mile walk, lasting approximately 2.5 hours, departing immediately after the seminars finish)
The theme this year is the Olympic Truce, and we will be grappling with the actions that Christians can take in trying to bring an end to conflict, using the ancient principles of the Olympic Truce in part for inspiration. The chair will be Lord Bates who has recently returned from walking over 3,000 miles from Mount Olympus to London to raise awareness of the Olympic Truce. More about his adventures can be found on www.walkfortruce.org.uk.
The NPB is organised by a cross-party Steering Committee of Peers and MPs under the auspices of Christians in Parliament and is hosted in Parliament with the kind permission of the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Lord Speaker of the House of Lords.

'The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Saviour God wants us to live.' The Apostle Paul, 1 Tim 2.1–3 (The Message).
